ResistanceSim Logo

The development, evaluation and roll out of ResistanceSim, a digital simulation game for insecticide resistance management. The key target audience is members of malaria vector control programmes; however, any student or stakeholder with a vested interest in the role of insecticides for disease control will benefit from the use of the tool. The game will allow players from multiple disciplines to manage a virtual vector control and entomological surveillance programme. Using a custom built mathematical model, industry standard graphics and game mechanics, players will be taught best practices by exploring the impact of their decisions in the simulation. The game will be packaged with a number of mini-games that will teach players test procedures to monitor resistance.

Concept 2

HIV Gaming Engaging and Testing (G.E.T) Project

HIVETCH and researchers at LSTM are working in partnership with the University of the Philippines and their Department of Health (PDOH) to develop and pilot a digital game aimed at increasing the number of men who have sex with men (MSM) knowing their HIV status in the Philippines. The project will include an in-depth formative research phase that will determine key enablers and barriers to HIV testing and counselling (HTC) service use among MSM.

HTC services within Manila and Davao will also be mapped and monitored to explore possible areas for service improvement. The data generated from this phase will be used to inform the game design and delivery method, as well as build an evidence base to assist the PDOH in future studies and interventions for HIV public health programmes and advocacy campaigns.
